Why did I start www.spinfreak.com?
The story goes like this...in January 2004 I joined a gym. I had two small children and I was very out of shape...the old New Year's
resolution thing...I tried to do classes...step, pilates but I wasn't totally into those classes. Every day that I went to the gym,
I walked by the "spin room"...it was dark...black walls, Christmas lights and loud music...it sounded like a night club...now that was
something I could relate to. I got up my courage and tried a class. My butt hurt and I could not do all of the drills but I just stayed
on the bike and kept pedaling and enjoying the music and the time away from children...I kept going and got better. I enjoyed the
"spin room" because it was dark and I didn't feel self conscious. I was sweating up a storm and loving it. I was a faithful spinner...
3-5 times a week. I have high standards and I knew after the first 6 months which teachers were "the best"...the teachers who spent time
on their routines...teachers who spent time on their music...teachers who made their spin class an event...something I didn't want to miss.
I frequented the classes taught by the teachers who gave 100% and I decided that I too wanted to be a spin teacher and I too wanted to give
100%...every class. I was Johnny G. Spinning® certified in April 2007...I think Spinning® is the original so that's how I was
trained. I began to create my own Indoor cycling routines in 2006. I used head phones and used a spin bike in
the hallway of my local community center...I was known as the "hallway Spinner". I spent hours on routines and music and I was the only
one benefiting from this work. I taught my first class in August 2007...I was hired that Fall by two places and taught 3 Indoor Cycling
classes per week. I tried never to play the same song twice and if I did play the same song twice...NEVER in the same set list. Variety
is the spice of life...I put hours and hours into my Indoor Cycling routines and Spinning® music...always
trying to come up with new ideas. One day someone told me of a website where I could give and more importantly receive ideas for
spinning® and Indoor Cycling. I logged on and did get many great ideas, but eventually I'd scoured the site
and found every piece of useful information...AND...new information was almost never added. I needed a current, up-to–date site that
could provide Spinning® and Indoor Cycling information. At this point, I had a few
ideas of my own that I thought would be useful to others. Almost there...last year at a neighborhood party...a friend was making fun of
me (as most people do) and called me a spinfreak. I thought to myself, "what a lovely compliment"...the name was music to my ears and I
had to find a way to use it. I began to look into the possibility of a website of my own and I decided to "Just do it"...the most
important things to me as far as spinfreak are...
free routines...let's share our knowledge and ideas. If you're a Spinning® or Indoor Cycling teacher that likes to give your students 100% every class...you'll want to have fresh, fun music and have fresh, fun ideas and routines that make students excited about your class...make your class an event! Make your class one that everyone wants to try and no one wants to miss.
I want my site to be up to date...if you submit a routine...it's immediately on the site to share with others. My hope is that we all have so many ideas at our finger tips that we never have to the same routine or play the exact playlist twice...Unless we choose to do so.
Spinfreak.com is for those of us who are freaky about spinning® and Indoor Cycling. If you're the type of person who hears a song on the radio while shopping and immediately gets paper and pen to begin your next spinning playlist...you're a spinfreak. If you hear a song on the radio and think, "this is a steady climb"...then you're a spinfreak! If you take 3 or more Spinning® or Indoor Cycling classes per week...you're a Spinfreak.
Spinfreak.com is a subset of Fitness Freak LLC...my husband and I formed Fitness Freak LLC as part of the process of starting the site.
My name is Caroline Bennett. I'm originally from Louisiana but have been in PA for 13 years. I'm still not used to the cold...I'd rather the heat any day...I'm 41 years old. I treat my life like a vacation...Have you ever been on a week long vacation and 4 days pass and you think, "I better get busy if I want to do anything worthwhile on this vacation"...well that's how I treat my life...I'm almost 42 and I'm half way through this vacation...so if I want to do anything worthwhile, I better get busy. Who was Caroline Bennett? Oh yeah...I remember her...she was the spinfreak...just like that.
I needed to start spinfreak.com because I love spinning® and Indoor Cycling. I am passionate about Spinning® and Indoor Cycling...creating spin Spinning® routines and Indoor Cycling Music lists are my hobbies. It's fun and I wanted to connect with others who feel the same way, I want to connect with other spinfreaks...I know you're out there!
